Lychee and pink pepper up top, a soft powdery iris in the middle, then praline and sandalwood underneath. Maleka is the fruitiest, most floral bottle in the Club de Nuit lineup, and it's the one that moves fastest off our table.
The lychee is real lychee, sweet and a little floral, before bergamot and pink pepper add some snap on the first spray. Orris takes over within the hour and turns it powdery, closer to a good face powder than a perfume note. The base is dessert territory: praline and sandalwood over a clean musk that keeps the sweetness from going cloying. It works at a desk as easily as it works on a date, which is unusual for something this sweet.
Often compared to Parfums de Marly Delina, same fruity-floral-praline idea, minus the rose and a shade softer. Built by Olivier Cresp, the perfumer behind Angel and Light Blue.
